I have had this sudden passion for baking over the past month. I have been looking at recipes, baking tips and tricks, searching for baking books and buying baking ingredients and supplies!

I’m starting off small since I’m a beginner. Start with the basics and get a feel for how things look and feel and I decided to start with cookies! I’ve already made whipped shortbread cookies, sugar cookies, and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

They are not perfect and I still have a lot of skill honing to do but I am still very happy! It was my first time ever making sugar cookies and shortbread cookies. I was a little nervous as they are such staple holiday cookies and I didn’t want to mess them up but they tasted great!! My hubby didn’t even want to share them. Makes me feel more confident about trying this whole baking thing.

So for now, this is a hobby. I am only a beginner baker with still lots and lots and lots to learn.  I really love it though. It’s something I never thought I would ever get into as I was never any good at baking and I never had the patience.  I was always the cooker, never the baker. I don’t know if it’s the mom in me or what but all of a sudden I had this need to try it. So far, it’s not that bad! It’s making people happy and request for more so that must mean I’m doing something right!! I also want to bake for my family and bake with them as they get older and I can pass on my recipes.

My current dream right now though? Eventually take this baking thing and hopefully turn it into a mini freelance business. I would love to do this as I’ve always dreamt of having my own business I just didn’t know what of!! Maybe this is my calling!

So expect more baking/cooking posts from me with maybe even some recipes to go along with it!

Traditions

Traditions are funny and heartwarming at the same time. The idea of hanging on to something, whether it be an action, an object, even just an idea is funny. What is our fascination of continuing something repeatedly for so long? What’s the point? I guess that’s where the “heartwarming” part comes in. That’s my main reason for keeping traditions. It keeps me connected to my roots. It keeps me grounded so I never forget where I come from or never forget the important parts of my life.

Christmas is a big one for me especially ever since my hubby and I started dating. We have created a few traditions for us over the past 10 years. Now that we have our own family, it’s important to us to keep them going in hopes that Baby G can continue them or just value the importance of family and family traditions so that maybe he can do his own in the future like how my hubby and I have.

Here are some of the holiday traditions my hubby and I have developed over the years.
