Out of Commission

There are certain workout moves that will really do you in. Which one in particular that put me out of commission for a couple of days? Squats! People were not kidding when they say that squats is one of the main moves that pretty much works your whole body especially if your form is 100% correct. Honestly, I never really did squats before. I did typical ones but I doubt I ever had the right form. I was at the gym on Saturday morning since my fiance went out to play some basketball with some friends. I was there for 2 hours working it pretty hard. I did some hardcore supersets, worked my abs, my back, did 30 minutes of interval cardio on the bike and decided to brave it out and try the squat rack. Oh boy … At first it didn’t seem so bad. I tried my hardest to keep my form as mint as possible (I hear my fiance’s voice in my head over and over about how to do it properly). I did 2 sets of 10 and wow … I was winded. It felt great at the time but it wasn’t easy. Since that moment I was finished, I knew this was going to be one of the things I want to work on and master because I know that squats works pretty much your whole entire body.

The consequences of doing the squat rack? The pain!!!! The next day, I could barely move my legs!! Getting out of bed took me about 5 minutes and don’t even get me started on trying to sit down on the toilet. Thank goodness, the bathtub was close enough on my left and the counter was close enough on my right for me to use as leverage or else I would have just been useless. I didn’t even want to leave the house because I was deathly scared of going down my stairs. It hurt that bad. My thighs were just burning all day long and it still is until today. I had to tell my friend that I couldn’t make it to the gym this morning because my legs were still in so much pain. I was just planning on working my arms this morning at the gym but I don’t think I could even stand let alone stand holding weights. Thank goodness, my job requires me to sit down most of the day or else I don’t know how I would make it for the rest of the day. This made me realize that I have really weak legs. I have strong upper body but weak lower. My friend is completely opposite from me. She has the strongest legs I have ever seen but she struggles when we have to do our arm and shoulder workouts. That’s why we push each other because we know what our weaknesses are. Gotta keep going!! Week 2 starts tomorrow!

I finally met with the priest last Friday! So far we are set! We have our date down and our ceremony is going to be at 2pm! I’m excited!! I just have to register for the marriage preparation course and ask my parents about where to get a new copy of my baptismal certificate. This means I can finally get my invitations started and send them this month!! Yay!! I’m soooo excited!!! This is starting to get real. I’m excited but nervous … I’m getting married … Still blows my mind. It’s a weird feeling knowing I’m going to be a wife soon. I don’t think I’ve quite wrapped my mind around it yet. It’s a journey that’s for sure!!

    Good job on the workout!!
Does that sound weird? Im not sure if complimenting someone on working out is uh..appropriate haha. I need to, I need to sooo badly. I’ve got baby weight to lose!! I just can’t get the gumption to do it.. yet.

Ah wow, that’s pretty crazy that it affected your legs so much! I have a feeling I do squats incorrectly because it ends up hurting my knees. I hope your legs feel better soon! The last time my legs felt like that was when I pushed myself too hard when running after not doing it for months. I should have started with a shorter run!

I’m glad you have things set with the priest and date! It sounds like that’s one big hurdle out of the way 😀

haha, I’m the same way with pizza. For some reason, I never get tired of pizza and am always willing to eat some.

That happened to me too when I started running! My knees started to kill!! I just started off slow and ran for only about 5-15 mins and worked my way up over a span of 3 weeks. It definitely wasn’t easy!!
