Post Weekend Traffic Blues

So yesterday was the first day back to work after the weekend right? Okay … yes … things can get a little hectic especially with traffic. I kind of expected the traffic to be a little tough in the morning because who knows … people slept in and are late for work so everyone is trying to squeeze in and rush causing traffic. Or it could suprisingly go the other way and have a decent traffic flow because people decided to take that day off too to recover from a holiday long weekend … It was not too bad in the morning for me but I do admit, I accidentally slept in and yes … I was one of those who was late for work.

Going home on the otherhand … yesterday’s MESS was unexpected. Normally it takes me about 45 minutes to get home (give or take 10 minutes – traffic just kills in general) but guess what? I was in traffic for 4 HOURS!!! Seriously, I had never sat in traffic by myself for that long before. It was painful.

My usual route home is to take the Queensborough bridge home because my place is literally not even 4 minutes away from it. However, a semi-truck decided to roll over and screw everyone over. This happens more often than none you know. A lot of accidents here nowadays always involve a truck of some sort because they think they can drive like cars and furthermore, drive like idiots. Just a month ago, I saw a truck completely side swipe a smaller truck because he thought he could beat a yellow light. So I’m sorry for sounding like a bitch when it comes to truck drivers. If you have dealt with trucks and truck drivers as much as I had, you would understand. I have no sympathy for them, at least the stupid ones who think they own the road.

So this “little” incident on the foot of the bridge caused mayhem yesterday since 2PM. They had to close the bridge and there was NO access to it from any route/angle/way/etc/etc. That meant that every other route was going to be packed and let me tell you it was. On every radio station, they said that every alternate route was a parking lot (no kidding) and people just had to be patient because it was going to take a while. Yeah … a while was 4 hours for me. It didn’t help that the alternate route I took home ALSO had a minor accident as well.

So I watched the sun go down and came home just before 8PM when I left the office at 4:30PM. I was hungry, I was tired, I was cold and I had a headache. It was not a fun ride home. Watching my gas slowly drop and drop because of the constant gas/brake/gas/brake was excruciating. I’m really hoping it’s a better day today. I have a dinner date with my fiance today and I don’t want to miss it because he is having a food cheat day today and it’s rare to have that. Having fried chicken for dinner on his request? OH YEAH. Not missing that at all.

I’m waiting for you LA Chicken. You and your delicious, oily, crispy, tenderness.

Congrats on getting subdomain hosting and getting your site up on it!

Whoaaa, 4 hours in traffic is ridiculous. I think the worst I’ve been in was 2 hours, and that was because the highway got flooded in one area. I hope you don’t have to go through that again!

Yum, I loved fried chicken, but I don’t have it that often. It’d have to be a cheat day for me too, haha. Hope you enjoyed it!
